The Alberni Valley Museum reflects the richly diverse past of the valley through an extensive collection of artefacts linked to our varied cultural past, industrial heritage, community history and artistic heritage. The Adopt an Artefact Program enables individuals, organizations, community groups, schools and businesses to select and sponsor an artefact for a year and can be presented as a gift, to recognize an anniversary, birthday or milestone, as a memorial, as a group project, for personal interest or…! Through adopting one of our unique artefacts the adopter’s tax-deductible donation helps ensure that the Alberni Valley Museum can continue to protect and preserve the history, heritage and culture of the Alberni Valley for future generations.
There is a selection of artefacts available at adoption levels of:
$25.00, $50.00, $75.00, $100.00, $250.00, $500.00 and $1,000.00 and special artefacts at $5,000.00 and beyond
Benefits:
- All adoptions will be for one year, will include a tax receipt, an adoption certificate, photo and artefact history and first right to continue adoption.
- $100.00 – add invitation to a museum event, listed on website and in the museum.
- $500.00 – add private meeting with your artefact and photo with it. Notification when the artefact changes location.
- $5,000.00 and up – all of the above plus private personalized tour of the Museum and Industrial Heritage Centre, plaque on display with artefact, special invitation to ride on the vehicle (if it is a vehicle), invitation to all museum events,
Adoption Policies:
- Adoptions are for one full year. Reminders will be sent out when it’s about to expire. Adopters have first rights to re-adopt for the following year.
- Once an artefact is adopted it can’t be adopted by anyone else until the adoption expires.
- Adoptions as gifts, in memoriam or other special occasion can be sent directly to the recipient if so desired. The tax receipt will be sent to the payer.
- We will make every effort to assist the adopter to select an appropriate artefact if there isn’t one available in their level of choice.
- Please allow one to two weeks for processing and mailing the adoption package.
- Payment can be made securely over the phone with Visa and Mastercard – Debit, cash and personal or business cheques are accepted at the Museum Shop.
- Personal stories and comments about why they decided to adopt an artefact are optional. If a story is provided it will be posted on our website and sent to the recipient if it is purchased as a gift etc.
